Charcoal Dune Cover by TheFool432 Charcoal Dune Cover by TheFool432
Cover to Cover assignment.

We could do any book we wanted. My friend Rory and I both did Dune by Frank Herbert. Neither of us were very satisfied with our versions.

I got two completely different crits on this from 2 different professors. One really liked the graphic nature while the other wanted it more realistic with the worm looking more organic.

Both agreed I need to knock back the shininess of the worm. I was looking at an earthworm... that's wet... which a sandworm wouldn't be. Oops.

Charcoal on Rives BFK.

Beautiful ... :glomp: Nicely done indeed, mate. ESPECIALLY love the dust trails from the sandworm's mouth ...

Thanks! I definitely had fun with those and the ripples on the dunes.

It was certainly evocative. They're just so iconic, it's great when you get them right.

Very nice traditional ilustrative work. I love, simply love the worm behind and the shadow on Jessica and Paul in the front. Great!
